Challenge
David Lloyd needed a centralised, intuitive system to efficiently track and report charitable activities across over 130 clubs using tools within its existing M365 licences.
Results
The new bespoke, scalable system provides real-time visibility, allowed for greater governance and reporting to stakeholders, and allows detailed logging of activities and raised funds.
“Before the app, everything was done on bits of paper and emails. If it wasn’t written down, it might as well have never happened. When we’re reporting to stakeholders, we need clear evidence of the impact we’re making, and the Do Good app has become the governance of everything.”

About David Lloyd
David Lloyd Clubs is a leading health and fitness group, with 134 clubs across the UK and Europe. Beyond providing state-of-the-art fitness facilities, the company is deeply committed to social responsibility through its Do Good strategy, which empowers every club to support local causes and community projects.
With thousands of team members and members alike getting involved, the scale of David Lloyd’s community activity is enormous, from fundraising marathons to volunteer programmes and donations to local organisations. Managing and evidencing this work across so many sites, however, was no small task.
The opportunity
Before the introduction of their new solution, tracking charitable activities across 130+ clubs was a manual and fragmented process; clubs relied on emails, spreadsheets and paper-based reporting, meaning much of the brilliant local work being done simply wasn’t recorded or celebrated. David Lloyd needed a reliable, centralised system that would make it easy for clubs to log activities, track donations and evidence impact, all while using tools they were already paying for in their Microsoft 365 licences. The solution needed to be intuitive and scalable, supporting meaningful reporting across the business.
With David Lloyd’s existing Success Support contract with Perspicuity, they had access to a bank of consultancy hours for projects and technical support. This long-standing partnership with Perspicuity meant that we already understood David Lloyd’s business and technological environment, so when the opportunity arose to develop their Do Good app, Perspicuity was the natural choice to bring it to life.
The Perspicuity solution
Perspicuity partnered with David Lloyd Clubs to design and deliver a bespoke Do Good app built on the Microsoft Power Platform – specifically Power Apps and Power BI. By leveraging the tools within David Lloyd’s existing M365 licence, the solution avoided the need for costly third-party development, while providing a powerful and fully integrated platform for reporting.
Each David Lloyd club has direct access to the app, enabling managers and members to log information about their community events. Event details are entered through a simple, structured form including the type of activity and any funds raised, with the currency clearly recorded.
The app also includes a robust reporting feature, allowing administrators to view all submitted events by type, track key details and see the total amount of money raised. These reports can be easily compared against previous periods, whether by year or quarter, providing a clear overview of progress and impact across the organisation.
“The app has been a lifesaver – it’s a game changer for us. Previously, if it wasn’t written down, it might as well have never happened. When we’re reporting to stakeholders, we need clear evidence of the impact we’re making, and the Do Good app has become the governance of everything. Before, it was just bits of paper and emails; now we have a platform that makes reporting and accountability simple and robust. The build was faultless – quick, well designed and tested – and overall, it’s transformed how we track impact and deliver social value across the UK and Europe. It’s vital to what we do.”

The outcomes
Since launching, the impact has been huge. Some of the recorded impact has included:
- Over £2.7 million raised in fundraising, contributions and donations, plus €105,000 across Europe in 2024 including:
- Major contributions to causes such as Great Ormond Street Hospital (£44,000), New Life (£43,000) and Change Please (£130,000)
- 9,583 people involved in community projects, including over 6,500 team members
With more than 2,000 charitable activities logged each year, the Do Good app has become central to how David Lloyd measures and celebrates its social value, empowering local clubs to make a difference in their own communities while maintaining strong governance at a national level.
Looking ahead, the team at David Lloyd are exploring future enhancements to the app such as integrating social value metrics and enabling media uploads to showcase local stories visually.
By implementing the app, David Lloyd has transformed the way its clubs track and report on community initiatives. What was once a fragmented and manual process is now streamline, accurate and fully auditable. The app not only strengthens governance and reporting but also empowers clubs to showcase the real impact they’re making in their local communities. With Perspicuity’s ongoing support, David Lloyd is equipped to continue evolving the platform, driving even greater transparency and social value across all of its sites.
